FLI Postdoc Circle Invites - Lara Huber

Seminars Science

Lara Huber (Priv.-Doz. Dr. phil), senior researcher and lecturer in philosophy at the Universities of Kiel and Wuppertal, will speak about "How do we know? Introducing Philosophy of Science" on May 22 at the Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI).

Lara Huber (Priv.-Doz. Dr. phil) is a senior researcher and lecturer in philosophy at the Universities of Kiel and Wuppertal (Germany).

Much of her research and teaching in epistemology, philosophy of science and research ethics has revolved around the coevolution of scientific methods and technical devices. She has published broadly about standardisation in the sciences, the cultural and technical history of measurement and related questions, for example, how normality is conceptualised in medicine, psychology and every-day life. Lately, her research explores criteria that are key in prioritising ends of inquiry (relevance), evaluating methods in science (adequacy), or assessing outcomes of research (evidence, significance).
