Animal experiments in research – information event

On April 24, scientists from research institutions in Jena will inform about why and how animal experiments are carried out in research.

Why do scientists do research on animals, what conditions must the planned tests fulfil for an authorisation, what are the possibilities for reduction and alternatives? Scientists from research institutions in Jena want to inform about these aspects.

Researchers from Friedrich Schiller University and University Hospital, from the Leibniz Institutes for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology as well as for Ageing Research and from the Federal Research Institute for Animal Health report on this aspect of their work and invite to an interview.

The animal welfare officers of the Leibniz Institute on Aging – Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) are on site with posters and a stand.
Dr. Beate Hoppe will give a lecture on "Fish as an animal model in ageing research".
