FLI Colloquium with Prof. Kiran Patil: Metabolic and genetic view on gut microbe-chemical interactions

Kiran Raosaheb Patil, Professor of Molecular Systems Biology, University of Cambridge, will speak on September 26th at the Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) about current findings.

Human gut microbiota is exposed to thousands of xenobiotics, ranging from therapeutic drugs to chemical pollutants. Chemical pollutants are particularly concerning. They are increasingly recognised as a key environmental threat due to widespread pollution, which by some estimates has exceeded the safe ‘planetary boundary’. Kiran will preset his lab’s effort to understand impact of these chemicals on gut bacteria using molecular approaches and emerging molecular insights towards mitigating their negative impact.
