10th German Diversity Day at FLI: Diversity means opportunity!

Let's Celebrate Diversity: Initiated by the Charta der Vielfalt e.V. the nationwide action day on May 31st brings awareness of diversity into working life. The FLI, with employees from 33 countries around the world, is joining in the celebration.

The Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) celebrates the day with the motto "Diversity means opportunity!" In addition to online presentations and an in-house event, all colleagues at the FLI are encouraged to participate in the online learning session "Doing Diversity" offered by the association Charta der Vielfalt - funded by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Network Integration through Qualification. The training provides a detailed understanding of diversity and ideas on how to anchor diversity in the organization.

At the FLI, 326 employees from 33 countries around the world currently work under one roof. "This wealth of cultural backgrounds and values makes our institute diverse and colorful and enriches our working life," says Dr. Kerstin Wagner, Equal Opportunities Officer at the FLI. "But diversity means more than just cultural diversity. With the Diversity Charter as the guiding principle of our organizational culture, we are committed to an appreciative working environment free of prejudices, especially among different genders, various age groups and nationalities."

FLI signed the Diversity Charter back in 2013 and was awarded the "Total-E-Quality Prädikat" (TEQ predicate) for the first time in the same year. Since then, the FLI has been a holder of the predicate - since 2016 with the addition "Diversity".
