Family & Career Networks

Focused on Families: Jenaer Bündnis für Familie

The focus of Jenaer Bündnis für Familie lays on making families the center of attention of social, economic and political interests. The associated partners continuously try to improve the quality of family life in Jena and the compatibility of career and family.

64 associated partners from industry, politics, administration, social associations and families are engaged for a more family friendly daily life – be it through need-based childcare, family friendly working places and living conditions or a wealthy social and cultural environment.

As a member of the Beutenberg Campus, the FLI has been a Bündnis affiliate since 2007, holding a direct membership in the initiative since 2013. We engage mainly in the working groups “Compatibility of Family and Career”, “Managers in Family” and “Diversity and Education”.

A Double Welcome: Dual Career Network & EURAXESS

We regard equalization and a family friendly environment as crucial elements of a modern personnel policy. That’s why we implement a wealth of measures at FLI to make family and career compatible.

To attract experienced scientists as employees to FLI, it’s often essential to also support the spouse/partner in finding a new professional perspective in Jena and nearby (so-called dual career couples).

The FLI, therefore, is engaged in several regional and national dual career networks as well as member of the international EURAXESS initiative.

We are one of the founding members of the Dual Career Network Thuringia, founded in 2013 by regional universities, research institutes and other associations. Furthermore, we are actively involved in the Dual Career Network Central Germany and the Dual Career Network of the Jenaer Bündnis für Familie.

Since 2015, the FLI holds an active membership in EURAXESS - Researchers in Motion, a unique pan-European initiative providing access to a complete range of information and support services to researchers wishing to pursue their research careers in Europe or stay connected to it.
