Being a Postdoc at FLI

At FLI, our postdocs are part of the active Postdoc Circle, a self-organized network that connects and supports the interests of our postdocs. Elected representatives serve as a link between institute management and postdoc interests. 

We place special emphasis on each postdoc’s individual development and provide extensive career support. Regularly organized career-development courses are tailored to the specific needs of our postdocs.

Researchers at FLI have access to state-of-the-art core facilities that not only provide strong technical support but also offer opportunities to learn and apply career-relevant techniques. Our career support is designed to prepare postdocs for the challenges of research life and their chosen career trajectories.

 

International postdocs especially benefit from our Welcome Center, which helps them to settle in quickly and easily. FLI assists with finding housing and with administrative matters to ensure a smooth start in Germany.

Female postdocs can also apply annually to the Leibniz Mentoring Program. This program gives outstanding women scientists the chance to develop leadership skills and prepare for leadership roles. It is offered directly by the Leibniz Association and offers an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth.

They receive internal advisory support from the two group leaders, Prof. Dr. Janine Kirstein and Dr. Melike Dönertas.
In addition, Dr. Magdalena Rose provides support in organizing internal career-development events.
