Animal experiments in research

News

On April 24, scientists from research institutions in Jena took part in the information event about animal experiments.

FLI's animal welfare officers were on site with posters and a stand to inform about how and why animal experiments are carried out in research. They answered questions and explained for example why scientists do research on animals, what requirements must be met for experiments in order to be approved or what possibilities exist for reduction and alternatives.
Furthermore Dr. Beate Hoppe gave a lecture on "Fish as an animal model in ageing research".
